When you suit up and play under renown defensive back coach Tony Perry, chances are you’ll get your family mail box flooded with college football offers. After all, this happened to Ricky Manning when Perry coached the former NFL cornerback while at Edison High School. Clifton Smith was also garnering attention thanks to the coaching of Perry. Devin Ross of Arizona and Courtney Viney of both UCLA and New Mexico State also proved to be successful students of the man many have called T.P around town. This is now the case for one of Perry’s latest prospects out of Central [...] Read more »

Kingsburg has not only been on a hot streak when it comes to claiming central section championships, but the Vikings have also produced a college football prospect each season since the 2009-2010 season. From Tyler Bray (Tennessee), to Garrett Steele (Cal-Poly), to most recently Trevor Price (received full-ride over a week ago to Cal Lutheran), the Vikings have been able to carve out talented prospects who make the jump to the four-year level. Now, it looks like another Steele is about to have his turn in the place known simply as K Town. That Steele is the massive anchor for [...] Read more »

Devon Wylie is the lone Bulldog heading to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, but he has drawn a great deal of attention as of late. The wide receiver has actually gotten comparisons to one current star wide receiver who has played in two Super Bowls in New England’s Wes Welker. Its not just because of the kind of final season Wylie had (career highs with 56 catches and 716 yards), but its also because of the fact that Wylie and Welker are nearly identical in size (both are at least 5-foot-9, 185 pounds) and the fact they play a [...] Read more »

TWO EX-BULLDOGS GET PRO BOWL HONORS

nfl

Going to Honolulu at this point seems to be nothing new for All-Pro offensive guard Logan Mankins, who was named to his fourth pro bowl selection on Tuesday. Yet this time, the former Bulldog standout might have to show Ryan Mathews around. Along with Mankins, Ryan Mathews became the second former Fresno State player to earn Pro Bowl honors as an alternate running back for the 2012 AFC squad, making it the first Pro Bowl nod in his two-year career. Mankins was selected as a starting guard for the AFC squad along with fellow offensive linemen Brian Waters of New [...] Read more »

LOCAL JUCO LINEBACKER CONSIDERING FRESNO STATE?

Fresno State over the years has seldom gone to the junior college ranks to help themselves on the recruiting trail. Pat Hill rarely knocked on the doors of JC guys and asked if they wanted to become Bulldogs during his 15 seasons with the program. With Hill gone, and Tim DeRuyter now in, the same question was actually asked when the new head coach was introduced to the Bulldog Foundation booster club back on Wednesday. Even DeRuyter admitted that he had rarely gone to the junior college circuit for getting new players, regardless if he was at Ohio, Air Force, [...] Read more »
