Shhhh….Chris Rogstad actually grew up a Washington Husky fan. That, however, doesn’t stop him from cheering on Fresno State, as Chris is one of the most recognizable Bulldog fans on the campus.
Much like fellow staff member Jeremy Berbereia, Chris gets loud and proud sitting in the front row of any Bulldog sporting event. He’s even befriended some of the Bulldog athletes over the years and they’ve come to appreciate Chris’ passion for Fresno State sports. His pictures with some of these athletes can help prove his case!
Born in Port Angeles, Washington, Chris has lived in California since he was about six months old. He graduated from Tulare Western High School in 2000. He also attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Ca where he served one year as the A.S.B. Commissioner of Records.
Despite growing up in the valley and 99% of his family being Washington State Cougars fans, he grew up a Washington Husky fan. He never followed Fresno State sports other than the interest he had in the 1998 Softball National Championship and the 2001 football team that reached #8 in the rankings, who was led by 2002 #1 overall pick David Carr.
He would then transfer his loyalty over to Fresno State in the fall of 2006 when he became a student. He is now one of the biggest Bulldog fans since often being found at games for Volleyball, both Basketball teams, both tennis teams,, a few equestrian events and even one Cross Country event.
At Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball and a few times in the past Track, you can usually find Chris on the field setting up for games. He serves as a field worker for Fresno State athletics, a job he’s held since Spring 2007.
Some of his favorite Bulldog memories include watching the 2008 Baseball team win the NCAA National Championship on T.V., attending the 2007 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho, which Fresno St won 40-28, and the buzzer beater by Kevin Bell to beat Boise State near the end of the 2006-2007 Basketball season.
One other moment that sticks out to Chris was when Fresno State played UCLA at the Rose Bowl. He got a chance to watch a game in the prestigious Pasadena stadium as Fresno State defeated UCLA. Even though he didn’t see his beloved Huskies that day, he was glad he saw the Bulldogs come away with the historic victory.
When Chris is not cheering on the Bulldogs or Huskies, his hobbies include watching his favorite pro teams: the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Lakers on T.V., playing video games and just hanging out with friends.
He is currently working on a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies at Fresno State which will include obtaining a teaching credential. He has interest in teaching special education one day.
He is hoping that he can blend his passion for Fresno State athletics, along with the history of Bulldog sports to provide an unbiased “Field Report” column or blog on redzonefrenzy.com, and even once in a while help write stories for the site. Chris will also provide photography when needed and will help run the twitter and facebook page.
Even as a Husky fan, Chris can still be found wearing Fresno State red all over the campus. His passion and energy for Bulldog sporting events makes him an ideal fit for redzonefrenzy.com.
