A&M had the 113th pass defense, which typically has been FSU's achilles heel on defense. Also, A&M underachieved based upon their talent which is why the head coach was fired?? This appears to be a move that will lessen the likelyhood to win more than 7-8 games a year. Not offering the money for McElwain costs FSU, and if FSU does'n't have the money they would be better off giving a shot at guy coming from a winning HS program like a rookie. If you cannnot afford proven talent, you have to try to grab budding talent before their price tag goes up. It looks like Fresno is in trouble. I clocked 4.67 in pro timing when I played linebacker at Fresno State in 1981! ... so his speed is not impressive, BUT he may be fast and quick on the field in pads and his game speed and athleticism could give the potential to be a good player at the FBS level, certainly worth the look.
